Taking Advantage of the Momentum

I finished piecing my Union Star wall hanging last week...

Lots of little pieces...lots of points...

I cut the border pieces when I cut out everything else...and it fit...with no fudging...amazing.

Finished piecing my Monday Mystery...this would be a great go-to pattern for a quick cute gift.

Now I need to figure out how I'm going to quilt them.

I quilted the Charm Pack Cherry Quilt - with all the WHAMs, ZOOMs and POWs in the quilt it needs a different title.

I tried a new-to-me FMQ design...not too bad for the first time, my muscle memory really wanted to revert to curves and loops. I will definitely try this design again.

Check out the back of the quilt...it's a stripe and it's straight! I thought for sure it would end up wonky.

Does he look comfy?

Caught Up

The pic below is my latest garage sale finds...I think poor Mr. Froggy needs a girl friend for courting. He makes me smile when I see him sitting on his swing in my backyard.

I started Pam Buda's Market Day sew along...I'm now all caught up.

And I'm all caught up with my Monday Mystery.

Plus I'm making progress on my Union Star. I think I'm getting my quilting mojo back.

Mom, Happy Mother's Day

Have a great day! Wish I was there. I love you and all the other mushy stuff.

I managed to get a little bit of sewing done this past weekend...my motivation levels have been pretty low.  I did get my scrappy trip and string blocks for the month done. I'm not going to show those again until the end of the year when I've finished all the blocks (seen one, seen them all).

I've been keeping up with Sherri Fall's Monday Mysteries (took the pic on Sunday - I'll get step 5 completed by next Sunday) .

And I cut out a wall hanging from the book The Blue and the Gray. For such a little quilt it took me forever to cut out (almost three weeks - doesn't help if you skip two week between when you start and when you finish).

My aunt gave me an Easter Lily for Easter...it still has lots of blooms. I'm not much of a photographer but I like how this picture turned out.

I can't get the pictures to line up in the center...

I Won!!

I had to take a picture as soon as I opened the package otherwise there would be drool all over it...

I won Bonnie Hunter's newest book! I have made several of Bonnie's free quilt patterns in the past, her patterns are great. I'm looking forward to reading this book cover to cover...I'm already thinking I see a Narragansett Blues quilt in my near future.

Winning this book is the perfect Leader Ender to (sorry couldn't help myself) my progress on my two in process scrap quilts...Bonnie's Scrappy Trips:

And string blocks...

I'm getting better (and quicker) at making both blocks.

Two Finishes...Maybe

I finished the center of the Island Chain a week ago...I've had the border fabric since the beginning but it needed something else...

I found the gray stripe yesterday. I think it works. This was a very challenging quilt to make, but I didn't have to use my seam ripper at all. Amazing.

My second finish is the Charm Pack Cherry Quilt pattern by the Fat Quarter Shop. This is a fun easy quilt to make.

And I love the background fabric...Super Hero fabric.

But I feel like it needs something more...not sure what but more. How would it look if I added 3-5 narrow borders in the solid colors?

Channeling Sesame Street

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn’t belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the other
By the time I finish my song?

The third block was the charm, the first block I cut wrong after piecing the strips - this was the second attempt, it was one of those days.

Last Saturday was a fun sewing day with Stephanie and Nancy. While they cut and sewed I loaded a quilt on the frame. I finished it Sunday and added the binding yesterday.
