Even as simple as it is, it still took me about 5+ hours to make it. I think that might be pushing everyone's attention span a bit. So Karen and I decided it would be better to have them make one block and border it - they can make a little table topper out of it or maybe a pillow.
I need to figure out how I'm going to quilt this. Don't really want to do just stitch in the ditch...hmmm.

I think one block with borders is a better idea for beginners. Be sure to show us how you end up quilting your piece.
One block is best for a beginner for sure. I used to teach beginner classes in both the shop I worked at and then in our guild that had bunches of new quilters just wanting to learn. Some are ready to advance on quickly while others learn a tad slower. Keeping to the one will make your teaching easiest.
Turned out really nice....I like the blocks.....let me know how the girls do.....we got home tonite. jayme stayed for supper. she left to go play cards but we bowed out. Long drive home and weather was the pits for awhile.. luv
It looks great. Can't wait to see how you quilt it.
