More Awake Now

It is fun to travel, but there is nothing like sleeping in your own bed.

As I mentioned yesterday, I visited Nancy's new home in Pelzer, SC. We went to QuiltFest in Greenville. Since Blogger is behaving, I can show you a few (okay, a lot) of the quilts from the show.

I loved this one. Every time I look at it I see something new. It has incredible quilting. Below are a few other favorites.

Don't ya love a happy dog.

A friend of Nancy's made the above quilt. She won a 3rd prize ribbon.

There was also a series of barn quilts.

And yes, there was sewing. Nancy has a huge new sewing room over the garage. I would kill for single room that I could put all my quilting stuff in that also had lots of storage and a bathroom. ;o)

I gave Nancy the purple pin cushion and while I was at her house I made a matching pop-up thread catcher.

Finished an embroidery project I've been working on forever.

I'm making Kira by G.E. Designs from a couple of Basic Gray layer cakes. I cut everything before I left and got the first round of blocks make.

I've really missed Nancy, so it was wonderful spending time with her and her husband Steve, seeing their new home, going to South Carolina for the first time (very green, very pretty), and getting to spend some sewing time with Nancy. Hopefully I'll be able to do it again soon.

I'm Too Tired To Post

I've been up since 2 a.m. PDT and either in an airport or a plane ALL day. I got home about an hour ago. A very very long day.

I went and visited Nancy in South Carolina - my first time there and the first time seeing her new home. Both were beautiful.

We went to Quiltfest in Greenville. This was my favorite quilt:

Well boogers. Blogger won't let me upload pictures. I'm too tired to fuss so I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Good night.

Just Not In The Mood

It took four days to sew three little pin cushions. The colors in the picture are terrible, they are all very bright in real life.

Actually, they are not that little. Four inches square and over a half pound each.

I used this, with lavender buds added, to fill them.

I have over seven pounds left over.

Two have lavender buds added. All were sealed with food saver bags. Took forever to vacuum up the mess.

Finished

Again I haven't done a lot of quilting this past week. Don't know what I did (other than spending some of the weekend with family), but it wasn't quilting.

I did finish the kaleidoscope quilt. Sewed the last of the binding on about 30 minutes ago.

I wish I could say I made this quilt. It is so colorful! quilting it was fun and I tried a couple of "new" quilting motifs.

The next quilt is ready to load.

See the pretty red roses by the window? My niece's boyfriend gave all the girls roses for Easter. Unfortunately, I have to hide mine because Bella likes to eat them.

Don't let her fool you...she isn't as sweet as she looks.

April Fools

It may be April 3rd but Mother Nature is still playing April Fools. It has snowed, rained, hailed, been really windy and really sunny...today! The high was 45 degrees...brrrrr! It's been this way for the last three days. You'd think it would be perfect weather to sew but all I've wanted to do is burrow and read.

I got this donation quilt loaded.

It's about a 3rd done.  After staring at it for a really really long time I figured out a way to quilt it and travel across the quilt. It will take a while but I'm really liking it so far.

Part rulers, part free motion. You might have to enlarge the picture to see the quilting.

Nancy really liked the quilt and asked about the pattern. The top was donated and I don't know who made it. I tried to re-create it in EQ8.

Not bad. It even let me create a paper piece foundation for the block. Now if it would only let me save it with all the changes made after the initial layout is saved. I really need to read the instructions.

I pulled my April UFO Challenge quilt out.

Technically it is not a UFO as I haven't started it yet. I love the bright colors! I have an idea for a quilt top that should be pretty easy and fun to make.

As always too many projects going on at once and not enough initiative. I saw this on Facebook recently. I really think it applies to me.

Spuddle: to work ineffectively; to be extremely busy whilst achieving absolutely nothing.
