When I first started quilting I bought lots of novelty fabrics. I have no idea what I was thinking at the time other than they were cute. A lot of years ago I needed a bunch of kid gifts for Christmas, so I made pillowcases from those novelty fabrics. They were a hit.
The far right panel are a few of the pillowcases I made and kept that year.

Sometimes if I have leftover fabric from a quilt and I know I won't use it for any thing else I'll make a pillowcase with it (near right). Friends have made me pillowcases (bottom near left). And sometime I find a novelty fabric that I just HAVE to have; I know I'll never make a quilt from it but it calls my name...like the ugly turtle pillowcase (top near left) and the fishing pillowcase (far left)...

Or this dragon pillowcase...

But I will, because these are not all of my pillowcases. I haven't shown the ones on my bed, the spare bedroom bed, covering cat pillows, or protecting chair cushions from cat hair....
Hello, my name is Joy, and I am a pillowcase addict.

I can see why! Pillowcases are so fun to make, give and receive! I have two pillowcase projects on my sewing table right now. One is with owl fabric. Why owls? I really don't know. I just thought they were cute! The other is soccer fabric. I loved it for my son, but I just didn't see it in a quilt so a pillowcase it is!
Those are fun! I've not made more than a couple of pillowcases and both of them were donation ones. I was hoping to have enough leftover fabric to make matching pillowcases for my daughter and her new hubby but ran short.
