Logey Bear - The Finale

Finishing this quilt on my little Bernina was like a WWE main event. There were times I didn't think I could win. But it is done.

I know...looks like last week's picture doesn't it. But it is quilted and the binding is attached. Now to finish Lucy.

I'm actually thinking of getting a new sewing machine. I love my little Bernina but it is little and it is starting to have tension issue that even servicing doesn't resolve. I've had her for over twenty years. Maybe something with a bigger throat, needle threader, thread cutter, and pressure foot lift...sigh. Problem is I'm really indecisive and really cheap.

Very cute bear quilt—glad you won the battle! I love the large harp of my Husqvarna Jade machine, the automatic lift foot is so great for piecing, you’ll love that. I bought mine at Joann’s. It has a built in embroidery alphabet but is not an embroidery machine, I didn’t need to spend $$$$.

Good for you getting the quilting done! It really does look sweet with those bears...and I like the plaid in the border too.
Some quilters love the Juki sewing machines for their speed and wider throat space. I'm not sure about the thread cutter part but I know the prices are way lower than Berninas. Have fun researching :-)

The quilt looks great! My previous machine was a little Bernina. It was my mom's but I used it waaaay more than her so she just gave it to me but I loved it and never cared about getting a new one, even if this one did come out in the '70's! But about 7 years ago I went with a friend to help her pick out a new machine and somehow came home with one for myself. I think it just hit me how pathetic mine was compared to what there is now? I still can't believe I spent that much ($2k) because that is just NOT me but I do not regret it at all. If we sew THIS much (as in ALL THE TIME) we need it. All I can say is that, in my experience, you don't know what you're missing. (That said, I don't think I'll ever get rid of that old Bernina!). Good luck but do take your time, look hard and ask questions. I didn't have a clue what was even available on the new ones so I think I just got lucky?

It turned out so great in spite of your struggles. There are so many choices in machines there now. I think you just need to figure out what you really NEED and don't go in for all those bells and whistles that you know you will never use.
