Unhappy Camper

I have a cold. So far it is just a sore throat and cough (I sound like a cross between Marlene Dietrich and a growling rabid dog) but I'm waiting for the rest to hit. Nyquil is my friend.

I got all the jelly roll quilts repaired, but I'm kinda tired of looking at them so I have put them aside. I'll square them up and make their backs later. I think I have plenty to quilt...still no Moxie - I'll call the dealer again tomorrow - if I don't get a good response, I'll contact the Handi Quilter headquarters, I've already talked to them once.

A lot of years ago I bought a doll cradle thinking I'd paint it and store quilts in it. I've decided that will never happen, so I cleaned up the cradle and made new bedding for it.

I made the pillow, receiving blanket and mattress cover from a very soft blue flannel I already had. The mattress is made from one of my FMQ practice quilts. I knew there was a reason to save it. I gave the set to a friend of my moms who has two great granddaughters under 3 years old. Hopefully they will have lots of fun playing with it.

I went to the Umpqua Valley Quilt Guild's show last Friday (I think that is where I caught the cold). Here are my two favorite quilts.

I forgot to take pictures of the labels for both quilts. I do know the quilt above is a Jaybird Quilts pattern and the one below is a Judy Niemeyer quilt pattern.

My pictures don't do these quilts justice. They were both beautiful. I'm not even tempted to make either. I just really enjoyed seeing them.

I also got all the Aunt Daisy units trimmed! Yes, there is an ! at the end, I'm so happy they are finally done. I'm not going to bore you a with a picture of trimmed blocks...the trimmed pile looks exactly like the untrimmed pile.

Still a Bit of a Snore

I'm making progress. On both my new laptop and making quilt backs.

There were not basic Microsoft Office products on my new laptop so I had to purchase MS Office for Students and Home. I was having serious Excel withdrawal (my life is so sad). What is really sad is adding all the donation quilts to my WIP spreadsheet. I currently have 30 items ready for quilting! Where is my Moxie!!

Quilts with backs.

Three quilts that need backs and repairs - there were some a lot of very narrow seams.  I'm not much of a TV watcher but I've found that binge watching Antique Roadshow and The Amazing Mrs. Maisel really make ripping out seams less boring

You know how when you have too many choices you just freeze up...that has been me over the last two weeks trying to decide what to work on next. Do I want to make this? This kit is old I should make this. I really want to make this pattern but can't find the right fabric or I really want to use this fabric but can't find the right pattern. There are 10 tubs of projects how am I supposed to decide??!!

Well I did! Old book and an even older fabric bundle. The quilt showing is what I plan on making. This takes care of the guilty voice in my head.

The fun voice says to cut out this project too.

I love the Brightly pattern. The fabric is from a Moda box kit I bought last year from a store that was going out of business - I didn't like the pattern but love the fabric.

Another local quilt shop is going out of business, so far they have discounted their fabric 20%. I have be coveting this line of Tilda fabric so I splurged. (Need to start an 11th tub.)

It has been getting lots of pets. Now to find the perfect pattern.

No progress has been made on this pile.

I think I need to find another show to binge watch. Any suggestions?

Snore

Are you prepared to be thoroughly bored? Need some help sleeping? Then read this post.

What did I do last week? Made a few quilt backs. Started and finished a 1000-piece puzzle. Started and finished two books. Make 128 half square triangles.

My next back to make and the untrimmed HST blocks. This week may be just as boring as last week.

What wasn't boring is today's weather.... we had snow!!! in April!!! Yes, this is worth three !!!  Four days ago it was 85 degrees. Don't get me wrong, I love it! We really need the rain and snow as we have had a really dry winter. There will be more rain and snow tomorrow. Maybe it will help me get my quilting mojo back.

UFO Challenge

Well, no swear words were said when I did my taxes. I got enough from Peter so that I could pay Paul, so that all worked out.

However, there was swearing last week. I was so pleased with myself, while I didn't finish the Daphne quilt by March 31, I did finish it on April 1. Including the binding and all but 5 inches of the back...why did I stop at 5 inches from the end? Because I sewed my blankey blank finger and broke the needle! There was a lot of blood, but the injury was fairly minor as the needle hit the fleshy side of my finger.

So, here's the Daphne quilt.

I like how this quilt turned out. Although there is a major error in one of the blocks. I'm not going to tell you which one.  Unless you have the pattern, you will never know. And, yes, I could have fixed it before putting the quilt together, but I chose not to.  Lazy or attitude I'll let you choose.

It took a few days to get back on the horse, but I did, and finished my April UFO challenge top.

It took about 5 minutes (maybe 65 minutes) to add the sashing to the blocks. I'm not going to add a border. The blocks were made by Erin at My Patchwork Life, all I did was add the sashing. The binding and back are also made.

So now what? I'm in a kind of limbo. The only project I currently have going is the Aunt Daisy quilt along and that won't take long - this month is 128 half square triangles. I'm hoping to get those made and squared up this week.

Then what?

I need a new leader ender project but can't decide on what. I have a huge amount of 5 inch squares I want to use but can't decide on a pattern.

I need to make backs for a bunch of donation quilts I picked up. Plus a few of my own.

I'm hoping my Moxie will be delivered soon (electrical cord is on backorder). Then I'll be really busy.

I do have a couple of pinned small quilts I could work on...and really should work on...but I don't really wanna.

I need to put a sleeve on two quilts so I can submit them to be displayed at the guild quilt show next month.

Plenty to do. I just don't feel like doing them.
