Did I say rain?

It was a beautiful, warm (77 degrees) day. Mixed blessing...lovely day meant yard work. Got the lawn mowed and about a 1000 out of a bazillion weeds pulled. I'm getting closer to pushing the button...

No, not those buttons, this button: I got to play a bit with the Juki TL2010Q sewing machine last weekend and I really liked it. Now I just need to decide on a frame. I have a feeling getting a new sewing machine and a quilt frame are not going to solve the real problem:

What do I quilt in this space? I hate the phase "quilt as desired". I desire inspiration, I desire examples and suggestions. I also desire dark chocolate, but that is a different subject.

First Day of Spring...

Really?

It has been raining solid for the last three days. It's suppose to rain for the next three days. Did someone move my house to northwest Washington?

I just finished making the latest civil war blocks.
I think I should be making a boat instead of blocks.

Spring?

As promised, here is the table runner I made with the North Star civil war block and fabric that I decided not to use.
A while back Nancy gave me some cheater corner triangles she had. I've been using them as leaders and enders. Once I ran out of them it was time to make something out of them...

The half squares are one inch finished. The wall hanging is 14" square. I figured out there are 228 triangles in this little quilt. With so many seams, it is a little bulky.

I like how both of these turned out...but don't you think they look a little Fallish? Didn't we have to Spring ahead this morning? Hmmm, I think my internal calendar is a little off.

Both of these are pinned and ready for quilting along with these two table runners and this wall hanging. Quilting all of these should keep me out of trouble for a while.

This and That

I finished the two newest civil war blocks: Birds in the Air and Lincoln's Platform. I'm not crazy about my fabric choices for Lincoln's Platform but I can live with it.

I have been pulling fabric from my stash and buying fabric to make these blocks. I decided I needed to go through them and decide which fabrics I really wanted to use for this project and focus on them in new blocks. When I was done the fabrics I used for my North Star block were not in the mix so I remade that block (center above). I love this block with the fussy cut bird. I only bought a fat quarter of the fabric, I think I need more.

Don't worry, you will see the original North Star block re-purposed soon.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, one of the things I really like about quilting is how two people can make a project from the same block pattern and the quilts will look nothing the same.

Nancy came over to sew on Saturday. She added the binding to the Halloween quilt above. The block is the same as my Jared Takes a Wife! Love it!

Nancy also put the borders on this quilt.

Nice soft flannels, so of course Siddi had to help.

Spending Quality Time

Meet my new best friend...

We have been spending a lot of quality time together lately. So much so that people are talking.

What are they saying? "Will that girl ever sew it right the first time?"

I fear the answer is no.
