Making a Little Progress on Lots of Little Things

I'm pretty good at working on everything except what I'm supposed to work on. I picked up two quilt sandwiches at last Monday's guild meeting and finished one of them yesterday.

Cute top, I don't know who made it. I must be out of touch because I don't know who Max and Duke are, but they are cute.

I have the second quilt ready to be loaded.

I still need to decide on thread.

I have very little of the green leftover and none of the cream/green background fabric left so I went with Plan C.

It still needs something else, so I think I'm going to embroider the scroll design across the corners. Don't hold your breath for a finish anytime soon.

February's UFO Challenge was Bon Appetit with Ash. I did make some progress. I completed all the applique around Ash and got the first two sections of the top put together.

I really want to get this top done, so this will also be my March UFO Challenge quilt. No quilt police, right?

Project Quilting released a new challenge yesterday, 14.5 is Sew Not a Square. Whatever I make it can't be square.  I've been wanting to make a new wedge table topper, so this fits in perfect.

Doesn't this look lovely with my ugly ironing board cover? Look for another post later this week.

Surprise, surprise I have actually made some progress on my Aunt Daisy quilt this month.

I've been using these as a leader-ender project throughout the month. About half of the light triangle in a square blocks are made. Not much but progress.

Yawn!!

So tired. I better get this post written before my head hits the keyboard. Who knows I might actually make it to bed before midnight.

I finished Oliver in the Doghouse!! Not the best quilting but I had fun with it and tried a few new things.

I'm very pleased with how it turned out. It was a fun quilt to make.

This was supposed to be an Irish Chain mini...note to me three 1.5 inch strips sewn together doesn't equal 3 inches. Geeze.

So I'm going with Plan B except I don't know what Plan B is yet.

Project Quilting 14.4 A Novel Project

There is a room with blood spattered everywhere but no body. Bloody scissors with no fingerprints. Looking closer there appears to be old bloodstains, is this a serial killer?

Who was killed? And who was the killer? Can you solve the murder before there is another victim?

I'm a sucker for murder mysteries. Agatha Christie was my all-time favorite when I was a kid. Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. I've been rereading a lot of her books again, they are timeless.

If you like series murder mysteries, you may like others I've been reading lately:

Thursday Murder Club - Richard Osman
Agatha Raisin - M.C. Beaton
Vera Stanhope - Ann Cleeves
Finlay Donovan - Elle Cosimand
Kinsey Millhone - Sue Grafton
Ruth Galloway - Elly Griffith
Jimmy Perez - Ann Cleeves
Maisie Dobbs - Jacqeline Winspear

Birdies

Whew! I really sweated and struggled quilting the road panel.

I think it took a whole 20 minutes to quilt. I debated between red or yellow binding and decided on the red. I love the flannel backing I found for this quilt panel.

Next up is Oliver in the Doghouse. I loaded it, completed the first pass across the top then got to the row of birdies. I had an idea of how I wanted to quilt them but wasn't 100% sure and I needed to think about how to quilt them continuously.

I took a picture loaded it onto my laptop and played with the quilt design in MS Photo.

I'm using a pale silver thread so it was a little difficult to see as I was quilting and after I finished.

My first feathers using the Moxie! I'm super happy with the results.

All the little birdies are finished.

Now I need to figure out what to quilt in the rest.

There was a new Project Quilting prompt yesterday: A Novel Project. I have a couple of ideas of what I'd like to make. One involves going to JoAnn's for fabric. It's supposed to snow here overnight so that may not be an option, but I do have a backup plan. More details later this week.

Aunt Addy is Done!

After sitting on the quilt frame for almost a month I've finally finished quilting Aunt Addy. I've also got the binding sewn on. But...

Not very big 35 x 52 inches.

The back and the quilting. Done with rulers.

The "but" ... as I was hand sewing the binding down, I noticed I forgot to quilt in the ditch around the blocks in the second row from the bottom. I'll fix it using the walking foot on the Juki. Geeze.

Next up:

A nice easy panel with a very cute flannel back. Can't decide on silver or white thread.

I Didn't Wanna Fight

I started with an idea and that didn't work out, so I took it in another direction. That didn't work out either. By then I'd put in too much time and effort that I gave up.

My 54-40 or (not gonna) fight is done. It is 4.5 inches kinda sorta square. This will be my Project QUILTING Challenge 3 submission.

Oh well, it's done. ;o)
