Out of Control

No body should leave me alone with a branch cutter. I trimmed the lemon bush...

This is what's left...

I now have three 35 lb buckets full of lemons. Does anyone have any suggestions what to make with them?

I also trimmed the roses back (there are 4 bushes in there somewhere) and dug up a plant that I hated. I probably won't be able to move tomorrow. See the shadow? We actually had sunshine and blue skies for little while today, it has been so overcast and dreary here this past week.

I'm also a little out of control in the sewing room. Remember the list I mention last week...these blocks are not on that list.

Barbara Brackman is hosting a block of the week to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War. She is including stories and quilts from the era. I finished the first two blocks yesterday. I don't have very many reproduction fabrics (the top block is made from Thimbleberries fabrics), so making all 52 blocks may be a challenge for me, but I'm a sucker for sampler quilts.

I'm jealous of your lemons! I'll email you a recipe for easy microwave lemon butter. Thanks for the Barbara Brackman link.

I am jealous of your lemons also! Not a single fruit on my lemon or tangerine trees. I guess I have been bad!

Well, it's Monday now. How are you feeling? I did some weeding a short time ago and felt it for quite a few days afterwards. It is so hard to stop when you are getting yard work done!
Rest up while you make some more of those beautiful blocks :-)
I'm getting tempted to join in but they aren't on my ever growing 'list' either!

Do you have a growers market somewhere near.......maybe you could sell them to a vender.....or go door to door giving away lemons or take them to work and put a free sign on them where a lot of people pass by.........shame to let them waste....they are so good. I have mine cut up in different size chunks and in freezer bags......they last me all year.......

Make lots and lots of lemonade :) Yum! I also cut up lemons, put them in a bag in the freezer, to put in drinks and water later. What beautiful blocks!!

I like your fabric choices for the blocks..I glanced at the site but that is all. I am having trouble motivating myself as it is....for the things I HAVE to do...
