Not Much

I wasn't in the mood to do much sewing / quilting. It took all week to get the next set of sampler blocks quilted.

The center block has some in the ditch quilting and not much else.

The first clue for the 2022 Project Linus mystery quilt was released last Saturday. I bought my main fabrics yesterday. The quilt is titled Bon Appetit with Ash.

The mystery quilts are always fun and not my normal style. I'm looking forward to seeing how this one progresses.

Not much happened with Oliver in the Doghouse.

I decided on the fabrics I'm going to use for Oliver and his doghouse. This is as far as I got.

Hodgepodge

The question of the day: Is hodpepodge one word or two? I found both when I looked up its definition.

Tuesday I went over to Joanne's with a few other Quilts for Kids members to help organize her she-shed.

What is not shown is the fabric to the right that we had sorted and or purged. Joanne gets a lot of donated fabric which includes lots of scraps and really old fabrics. There was so much there that we were only keeping the "good stuff". The rest would be tossed or donated elsewhere.

Tuesday night I watched my grand-niece play volleyball at a local high school.

Hope this works. She is number 4. Her team won 3-1.

I added a white border to the 16-patch rail top and I'm calling it done. I think it would look off if I added the pieced border.

At Joanne's I picked up a pre-quilted panel and an already quilted panel sandwich. Both needed squared up and binding.

One cute, one kinda ugly.

Joanne also requested pillowcases.

I love making pillowcases. Most of the fabric was from my stash.

The 16-patch rail was my September UFO Challenge project, with it done I went back to working on Oliver in the Doghouse.

I've been putting the rows together. I think I'm going to use the fabric in the center for the roof on the doghouse, the border/binding, and since there is six yards, I think there will be enough of it for the back also. The next Project Linus mystery starts Saturday, so I would really like to get this top finished by then.

And finally, I loaded my cat sampler quilt and have started quilting it.

This is going to take a while...lots of stitch in the ditch and scrolling up and down to quilt the 12 inch blocks.

Whew! I did a lot more than I thought. ;o)

Minus Two

I finished quilting and binding the jelly roll quilt.

I quilted it with an all over loop meander using a silver colored thread. The back is a nice soft flannel. I think the finished size was something like 42 x 52 inches. It will be donated next week.

Using a random number generator, the blue paisley table topper was my next item to be quilted. I didn't do anything fancy - figured the fabric was so busy nothing would really show - so I stitched in the ditch around everything. Quilts in the closet is down to 31 - happy dancing.

I finished putting together the center of my 16-patch rails quilt. The whole quilt is made with 2.5 inch squares or strips. There are 32 squares/strips down the length of the quilt...should measure 64.5 inches, correct? Nope!!! it measures 66.5 inches!!! WTbleep!!! The width should be 50.5 inches, it measures 55.5 inches.... sigh. I measured the width of the white jelly roll, Kona Cotton white - it was closer to 2.75 than 2.5. Between that, and I tend to always sew a scant quarter inch, the measurements are really off. It is supposed to have a pieced border, adding it may be interesting since things won't line up. Should I just frame it in white and say it is done? The border is supposed to be more 2.5 inch squares - three deep. If I don't use them, what should I do with them? I hate when stuff like this happens.

Oh well, if this is all I have to worry about I guess I should consider myself lucky.

Not Focusing

My quilting / sewing has gotten a bit scatter brained again. This past week I worked on a little bit of everything and didn't really complete anything.

My August UFO Challenge was Oliver in the Dog House. Last minute progress was made but not enough.

The birds are paper pieced and were easy to put together. The 2022 mystery, Bon Appetit with Ash, starts September 24th and I'd really like to have Oliver completed by then.

A couple of months ago I picked up a baggie of two inch squares from the guild free table. I've been using the squares as my leader-ender project since then.

This is 14 inches square. I have a back and binding. I really should finish it, but I've added it to the list of to-be-quilted. I picked up another community service quilt sandwich from the guild. Both increased my quilt top count to 33.

I loaded this jelly roll quilt a few days ago and haven't done anything else since.

My September UFO Challenge is last year's leader-ender project. Don't know if this has an official name but I've been calling it 16-patch rails.

All the units are done I just have to put the top together. The rows are going together fast. It has a pieced border which should be interesting to add. I have been focusing a bit on getting the center of this quilt put together with a little help from season two of Vera.
